New to Formula 1?
The two questions everyone asks, answered in plain English.
What is Formula 1?
Formula 1 is the highest class of international motorsport - the fastest, most technically advanced single-seater racing series in the world. Teams design and build their own cars, and the best drivers on the planet race them at Grands Prix across the globe, from Silverstone to Monza, Monaco to Spa.
A season is made up of individual Grands Prix, each a weekend of practice, qualifying and the race itself. Points collected across the year decide the Drivers' and Constructors' World Championships.
Is it F1 or Formula 1?
Both, and you will see the two used interchangeably. "Formula 1" is the official name of the sport, while "F1" is the widely used shorthand. They mean exactly the same thing, so whether a package says Formula 1 or F1, it is the same thrilling sport.
You will spot both across our site - for example our British Grand Prix packages and our F1 Tour and F1 Tour+ package types.
